Alaska Airlines Celebrates Ugly Christmas Sweater Day
Back by popular demand [LOL], Alaska will bring back their #NationalUglyChristmasSweaterDay celebrations this year.
In its second year running this festive promotion, Alaska will add on to the Holiday cheer by decking their
halls aisles with Holiday-themed music and will provide Holiday-themed movies for free on all their flights (but beware, not all flights will now provide entertainment tablets as they used to). This event takes place on December 21st and on that day only.
As part of this one-day initiative from Alaska, all passengers wearing festive Holiday sweaters will be granted the possibility to board their flights early, although the official communique does not mention what early means. One can assume it will work just as when they offer early boarding to passengers wearing Russell Wilson jerseys, which would be somewhere between First Class and Elite boarding.
As per Natalie Bowman, managing director of marketing and advertising at Alaska Airlines:
“This time of year, we consider ourselves the ‘merrier carrier,’ so we love going above and beyond to help our guests embrace the fun, festive side of flying during the holidays. Whether you’re heading home to celebrate tradition or jetting off to a sunny destination to escape the cold, we recognize your journey begins with us, and we’re happy to make your travels even brighter any way we can.”
The airline is encouraging passengers to share their travel adventures during the Holidays by using the tags #UglySweaterDay and their all too familiar #iFlyAlaska on social media when posting their festive photographs.
I do expect to see lots of MVP Gold 75K members flying mileage runs to reach that glorious requalification that will grant them status for next year, as well as 50K bonus miles. If you are, and if you are sadly stuck in coach, I would absolutely suggest donning an ugly Christmas sweater to make sure you’re boarding early on that day and have sufficient time to situate your bags in a convenient bin to get ready for your last minute flight of the year.
Hopefully you would have taken advantage of the promo they were running a couple days ago for a 20% off First Class tickets!
