Southwest Airlines Flights to Cuba for ONLY $59!

Southwest Airlines won the rights from the DOT to start travel to Cuba this year, and will begin operating flights from Tampa and Fort Lauderdale to Havana, Varadero, and Santa Clara. This is going to be a great new era in Aviation, with many airlines vying for the rights to fly US “tourists” to the small island nation.

In what is, in my opinion, one of the best deals out there, Southwest is launching their “Wanna Get Away” fare sale to Havana. Flights are only $59 one way, and as far as I can tell, that price is good every day throughout the schedule. The Wanna Get Away fare sale is running from October 11th-October 27th, so make sure to get your travel plans going now. You can fly there direct from either Tampa once a day or or Fort Lauderdale twice a day

These tickets are non refundable, but Southwest Airlines as been known to be pretty flexible if you’re flying on another southwest flight or want to change the date. Just like all Southwest flights you’ll also get two free checked bags per ticket as well.

Now, it should be noted (just like we talked about in our Alaska Airlines Cuba post) you can’t just hop a flight to Cuba. You’ve got to get a visa, apply, get approved, and then still need one of the 12 approved OFAC reasons to go. There are lots of reasons, so hopefully you’ll fit into one of these 12 reasons to make it there.

I find it ironic that the US congress is still trying to stop flights to Havana. Tons of other airlines have been flying to countries for decades, and even US airlines (such as American) have been running charter flights there for years as well. This isn’t something new, it’s just simply something mainstream.

If you can fit into one of the 12 categories, then absolutely don’t miss out on this deal. It won’t be around for too much longer, and at only 1 hour and 5 minutes blocked time, this will be one of the shortest and most amazing flights out there.

So, you wanna get away? 🙂
