American Airlines First Class Flights to Hong Kong for 61,000 Miles!
Every now and again, American Airlines throws out a bone to us miles and points collectors, and this is one of those times. Right now, their “web specials” have first class redemptions from the USA to Hong Kong for 61,000 miles each way instead of the usual 110,000 miles. This is a HUGE savings and a great way to redeem your miles to get over to Asia and beyond.
Thanks to our friends over at the USCreditCardGuide for finding this one and sharing it with the world.
The majority of the flights, if not all, connect through Dallas and seem to be later in the schedule (think June/July 2020). There are a ton of major cities as well including the NYC metro and LAX metro.
Some of the city pairs take some work, but you might be able to find one close to where you live. I searched in Los Angeles for example and the cheapest flights were out of Ontario. I’d drive to Ontario for 50,000 miles savings!
You will see that the flights list themselves as a “Web Special” which come with certain restrictions. You should still get your 24 hours cancellation policy if you need to book now and then figure out your plans.
We even tried Seattle and sure enough, there are flight options. It seems that as long as you’re searing in July and beyond, the availability is there on certain days. I don’t expect the deal to last very long as the flights will be filling up, both the short haul AND the long haul flights.
Also in Coach, Premium Economy, and Business
If you don’t have the miles, the flexibility, or the desire to fly in first class, the web special is also there for other classes of service as well. Coach is available for 22,000 miles, Premium Economy is there for 33,000 miles and Business for 50,000.
While I wouldn’t recommend 16 and a half hours in coach, Premium Economy isn’t the worst and business is absolutely a possibility.
Even at 6’3″ I fit perfectly fine into American’s Business Class. I could SEE the first class just one row ahead…
Jump on this now if you’ve wanted to go to Hong Kong but you were saving the miles. Now’s your chance!
