Massive Opportunity at Kohl’s for FREE Black Friday Miles and … Appliances?
I was playing around on some of the Black Friday sites and I noticed a huge opportunity to score small kitchen appliances for next to nothing ($1 each) and earn thousands of miles. There’s some math involved, so follow along.

Best Buy and Amazon Travel Deals for Black Friday
Kohls Black Friday
Kohl’s has a fantastic promotion going on for Black Friday. For every $50 you spend, you’ll get $15 in Kohl’s Cash, and on top of that you can get 15% off of your purchase.
I’d never paid much attention to Kohl’s, but there are some AMAZING deals right now. One of them happens to be for small appliances…
Small Appliance Extravaganza
The Small Appliances from Hamilton Beach are currently pricing out at $21.99 on sale. You can apply a 15% off coupon to get that price down to $18.69. Each of the appliances has a $12 mail in rebate associated with them, so that makes the effective price only $6.69 each.
Among the selection of the appliances are:
- Quesadilla Maker
- Hand Mixer
- Waffle Maker
- Toaster
- Food Chopper
- Popcorn Maker
- Griddle
- Slow Cooker
- Egg Cooker
- Coffee Maker
They’re simple appliances that you might have in your home, but a refresh could be in order.
The Crazy Math
The rebate can be maxed out at 5 of each appliance per household. That means that you COULD have $60 rebate for each item multiplied by however many items you want. Ready for the math? Here we go.
- Item Price = $21.99
- Discounted Item Price = $18.69
- Three of Each Item = $56.07
- This results in a $15 Kohl’s Cash Card
- Multiply this by dozens of items
- YOU GET A LOT OF MONEY
The Kohl’s Cash you have to use from November 30th to December 9th, but there are going to be a ton of Cyber Monday deals as well for you to take advantage of.
Airline Miles
Don’t forget that right now you can get extra airline miles through shopping portals. Delta is offering 5 miles per dollar and Alaska is offering 6 miles per dollar.
Here is how I broke mine down. Here are screenshots of the purchases so you can see what’s going on:
- 38 Different Items = $835.62
- 15% Discount = $-125.35
- Taxes (damn state of WA) = 71.51
- Total = 781.78
- Airline Miles Earned = 3,551 +
- Freedom Card Rebate = 5% at Department Stores $39.08
- Kohl’s Cash = $210
- Kohl’s Rewards = 35.51
- Rebate (38 items x $12 each) = $456
- Total Out of Pocket = 41.19
Notice that I also am including the 5% rebate from my Freedom Card. That’s because this quarter Freedom is offering 5% back on Department Store Purchases.
If you live in a state that has little or no sales tax, this could be almost a $0 gain for you. In fact, if your state HAS no sales tax, the total cost for each item will be LESS THAN ZERO. YOU WILL BE PAID TO BUY THESE THINGS.
So, now you’ve got dozens of new appliances. Now what? What should you do?
Well, you can donate them. You could resell them. You could give them to your church. At the end of the day, when they’re less than $1 each, who cares?
I don’t expect these to stay for very long. If you need a link to the rebate form, click here. Otherwise, enjoy your plethora of new appliances!

Way too much work for crap appliances. Way too much. Did I mention they’re crap, as in they barely work, as in the blender barely blends, the popcorn maker leaves more unpopped than popped? Why would you donate crap appliances? Did I mention they don’t really work?
November 29, 2019
Well, crap! 🙂 I would say that donating an appliance that barely works is probably better than the majority of people who bring appliances to goodwill.
