British Airways Luxury Sale: Business Class under £1,300, First Class from £2,000
I scream, you scream, we all scream for premium cabin sales! British Airways is back at it again with their Luxury Sale. This time, they’re giving you the chance to enjoy a flatbed across the Atlantic for less than £1,300 round trip.

All flights originate in London and includes direct flights to many US cities. The sale runs until Tuesday, March 19th. The flights are bookable directly through British Airways’ website at this link. Alternatively, you can click on one of the flights below as well. Dates will vary depending on the city, but tend to be later in the year.

If you’re weird like I am, this is where you get excited. By far, the best program to credit flights to is Alaska Mileage Plan. Business class flights book into the I-fare class, while First Class books into the A-fare class. Flights in business class will earn 250% of miles flown. Flights in first class will earn a whopping 450% of miles flown. To get an idea of how this works, let’s look at a flight booked to Las Vegas in first class.

At a distance of 5,229 miles, this flight would come out to 10,458 miles round trip. At 450% of your miles flown, that comes out to 47,061 redeemable miles. That’s nearly enough miles for a one-way business class ticket to Asia on Cathay Pacific! This is all without even factoring in elite bonuses. IF you hold top-tier MVP Gold 75K status with Alaska, you’d earn an additional 13,000 miles, bringing your miles earned to 60,000. For. One. Ticket.
If booked directly through British Airways using a card like the American Express Platinum card, you’re looking at another 16,000 Membership Rewards points per ticket. On one ticket without status, you’d earn over 63,000 points and miles alone! Even in business class, this flight would still earn 26,145 miles.

Most of the travel is further on down the year, but the website itself shows the dates that are available. British’s website is really easy to follow, and some destinations do have good cheap flights. Check out Mexico City in First Class for example.

I’m a bit confused as usual. How do you make this work as a US citizen with a flight originating in say, San Francisco? It looks to me like you have to start out in London and fly RT to the USA & back.

No worries! It can be confusing and doesn’t necessarily make sense for everyone. Some people will take this as an opportunity to essentially book two trips. To make these work, you’d need to find flights back to London. Instead of booking departure and return dates a week apart, you might book them a few months apart. Then fill in the rest with a cheap cash fare or points flight from the US (SF in your case).
