Singapore Airlines Spontaneous Escapes Sale
Every month, Singapore Airlines releases their “Spontaneous Escapes” promo. These promos offer some fantastic opportunities to fly at discounted rates.
The Deals
Singapore Airlines is currently offering deals across all cabins through their Spontaneous Escapes promotion. These deals are valid for bookings made by February 29th, for travel between March 1st and March 31st. While deals can be found in each cabin, the best values are found at the pointy end of the plane.
Business Class
- Johannesburg: 34,300 miles
- Dubai: 34,300 miles
- Sydney: 43,400 miles
- Barcelona: 64,400 miles
- San Francisco: 66,500 miles
Premium Economy
- Johannesburg: 25,900 miles
- Frankfurt to NY: 32,900 miles
- LA/San Francisco: 47,600 miles
- New York: 51,100 miles
Checking in at over 8,400 miles, the San Francisco to Singapore route is one of the ten longest in the world. For 17 hours in a top business class, that’s a fantastic value. Especially when you consider that’s less than they usually charge for premium economy.
Not to be outdone, Johannesburg to Singapore also clocks in at 10 hours. Considering that most airlines charge a similar amount for that distance in coach, this represents another fantastic value.
I’d also consider the premium economy deals from Johannesburg and Frankfurt solid values. However, for the additional incremental cost, the upgrade to business class is worth it.
How to Book
Thankfully Singapore Airlines has made booking their Spontaneous Escapes incredibly easy. Just head over to their site and search for award bookings. While Singapore offers flexible date searches, you can only search a week at a time. Considering this covers a month, that shouldn’t be too big of an inconvenience.
Just search your desired route like you normally would and go ahead and book. You might notice that the saver price displays at the normal rate. However, once you select it, you’ll see the reduced price.
How to Create Singapore KrisFlyer Miles
Chances are, you’re already sitting on Singapore KrisFlyer Miles without even knowing it. Singapore Airlines is transfer partners with each of the four major transferrable points currencies – American Express, Chase, Citi, and Capital One. Unfortunately, a sign-up bonus from one of their cards won’t set you up to take advantage of the offers this month. However, it will help you be prepared for future award sales.
If you don’t have enough points to take advantage of Singapore’s Spontaneous Escapes this time, don’t worry. They offer these on a monthly basis. While there’s no telling what will be offered each month, it’s definitely worth subscribing to their emails for these alerts.
Final Thoughts
While the dates are limited, these are some fantastic award rates for long-haul business class. If you’ve got the flexibility, Singapore’s Spontaneous Escapes are a great way to travel. Award deals like this and Flying Blue’s monthly award sales are why we always preach the value of flexible points currencies.
Even if you don’t plan on taking advantage of any this month, it’s still worth signing up for their monthly emails (or ours) to get alerted when these deals come up.
