Save up to $50 on Amazon with American Express Membership Rewards

It’s back! One of Amazon’s most popular promotions is back for a limited time. Now, for spending as little as one Membership Reward point, you can get 20% off of your Amazon order (with certain restrictions, of course).

How the Promotion Works

When you head to the checkout page, a pop-up screen arrives that says “You may be able to save 20% by using your Membership Rewards.” Of course, in order to see this promotion, you need to have a Membership Rewards credit card linked to your Amazon account.

Redeem your promotional discount in 3 easy steps:

1. Activate Now. Click on the Activate Now button to Activate this promotion and apply points to your next order. You MUST click on the button to receive the promotion credit.
2. Shop eligible products. Add one of more of eligible products sold and shipped by Amazon.com to your shopping cart. Promotion can be redeemed on multiple purchases. Maximum discount available is $50.
3. Use Membership Rewards points at checkout. Membership Rewards points will be temporarily set as your payment method at checkout. To redeem this offer, you must use Membership Rewards points for at least a portion of your order.

It’s important to note that you must only redeem the points for a portion of your order, at a minimum of 1 cent. 

How the Discount Works

You can see my own discount process here. I bought a few things and the total was over $250, and the discount was $50.

The discount is applied automatically, and you don’t need to do anything else. I redeemed a couple more than 1 point, but you can redeem any amount you want. Keep in mind that you don’t get a full 1:1.

Simply head over to Amazon’s page and shop for products that are sold and shipped by Amazon. Remember, that this will not apply to those shipped from third party sellers, only Amazon products. While Amazon gift cards are not eligible, you may have luck by buying other company’s gift cards as well.
