Redeem your Hyatt Points to go to Antarctica and More

Hyatt has been on a real run lately. They’ve announced triple points promotions for Q4, they’ve announced new partnerships with Alila, Joie de Vivre, Destination Hotels, Thompson Hotels, and the Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Your points are getting worth more and more each and every day.

Now, Hyatt has partnered with Lindblad Expeditions for you to both earn and redeem your Hyatt points for some unbelievable expeditions.

How to Earn

As a World of Hyatt member, you can enjoy these amazing benefits with Lindblad’s exhilarating, overseas itineraries on this site:

  • Earn 5 Base Points per eligible $1 USD spent, plus standard elite member bonuses
  • Qualifying nights count toward World of Hyatt elite tier status
  • Redeem World of Hyatt points for future expeditions
  • Receive a $250 USD onboard credit per reservation

How to Redeem

It’s now possible to redeem your Hyatt points as well for some of these amazing vacations. We’ve always been curious about going to Antarctica, and now it’s possible to use points to get there. I have to admit, while it seems like a lot of points, I think I might be a buyer for this.

The base price for the trip is $14,680 or 917,500 points. For that almost 1,000,000 points, you a 14 day trip including 9 days at sea and a full 5 days exploring Antarctica. Previously, the only way to redeem points would have been to use your Ultimate Rewards points or Amex Membership rewards to offset the charge on your card. Now, you’re able to use any Hyatt points that you have built up plus and Ultimate Rewards too.

I’m sure that the point purists out there will tell me that there are plenty of better uses for your Hyatt points, and they might be right. With that said, if you’re one to earn a ton of Hyatt points through your travels and have been jonesing to head to Antartica, now you’ve got another way to get there with points!

One of the easiest ways that we earn miles is by using our Chase Ink card at office supply stores. Each year it’s pretty effortless to earn 125,000 points. The Ink Business Preferred card also earns a great bonus on Ultimate Rewards, and the signup bonus is 80,000 points.

Not Just Antartica

Lindblad doesn’t just go to Antartica. They also have trips to the Amazon, the Baltics, Belize, Egypt, Canada, the Galapagos, and all over Europe. Not all the excursions cost a million points either… some of the smaller and shorter excursions only cost a few hundred thousand points.

  1. As someone who doesn’t have that amount of cash, this would actually be a great way to cross off a 7th continent. With MS this would actually be much easier for me then letting go of money.
