It’s about time! Trump Orders Grounding of Boeing 737-MAX
It was only a matter of time, but I think it’s one that needed to happen. Donald Trump today issued an emergency order to ground all Boeing 737-MAX aircraft.
Trump held a press conference and stated “All of those planes are grounded effectively immediately. Boeing is an incredible company. They are working very, very hard right now and hopefully, they’ll come up with an answer, but until they do, all planes are grounded.â€

This image from Flightradar shows where in the USA the 737 Max 8 and 9 aircraft were flying when the emergency annoucement came down. Trump said that he had spoken to a number of officials, pilots, and others in various countries before making the decision. Canada just moments before made a similar announcement, grounding all 737 aircraft.

For their part, Boeing said that they support the decision and will work closely with the FAA to make sure that more information is gathered before bringing the planes back online.
For my part… I think it’s a smart move. If a Lion Air plane comes down, and an Ethiopian Airlines plane comes down, both with potentially the same issue, why not? I’d much rather have a disruption in airline routes than hundreds dead.
