Insane Deal: US to Hong Kong from $239 Round Trip

Well this is just bonkers. We’ve seen some great deals from the US to Asia before, but this is just about as cheap as you’ll see.

The Deal

Both Oneworld and Star Alliance carriers are offering some insane rates between Las Vegas and Hong Kong right now. For just $239, you can fly to the other side of the world and back. Yeah, that’s a long way to go in economy, but it’s less than it costs to fly to Vegas from some US cities! The deal is also available for slightly more from Los Angeles.

While you can find this deal on several different carriers, I’d highly recommend booking flights operated by Japanese carrier ANA. Their economy class features 34″ of pitch, which is as much as some airlines offer in extra legroom economy. When you’re flying for 12+ hours, those extra couple inches can make a huge difference.

The Dates

a screenshot of a computerDates are pretty wide open from August and May 2021. Availability disappears around the holidays in December and January before picking back up in February. To find the best deal, you’ll want to head on over to Google Flights and find prices in the mid $200s. Once you’ve done that, head on over to Skyscanner and plug in your dates to get the price down under $240. Here’s a sample fare if you’re feeling lazy though 🙂

Final Thoughts

This is about as good of a deal as you’ll see between the US and Asia. Even though it’s a long flight in economy, flying on ANA should help make it a bit more comfortable. At this price it’s awfully tempting. There’s no telling how long this will last, but I suspect it won’t be around long.

  1. It is bonkers — to even consider flying that far in coach. You would have to pay me a lot to suffer through that torture. The whole point of this hobby is travel in premium cabins on the cheap.

  4. The $64,009 question is — will Americans be allowed entrance to Hong Kong? Certainly not in the near future. The EU is already denying us entry for July 2020.
