HOLY SHIT – Trump Bans all Europe to US Travel

In what is a quickly developing news story, Donald Trump has just banned all travel from Europe to the United States, starting at Midnight at Friday for the next 30 days.

Trump said there will be certain exemptions made for certain Americans “who have undergone appropriate screenings.”

“These prohibitions will not only apply to the tremendous amount of trade and cargo, but various other things as we get approval. Anything coming from Europe to the United States is what we are discussing.”

The United Kingdom will be exempt from this travel ban.

Trump has called the ban “strong but necessary” and the Coronavirus “a horrible infection” that required “an unprecedented response.”

Trump made the decision in order to “keep new cases from entering our shores.”

What do to?

If you have a trip planned from Europe to the United States, or vice versa, I would suggest either leaving today or preparing to be stuck in Europe for the next month.

According to President Donald Trump, Europe did not take the same precautions as the United States, and therefore all travel must be banned between Europe and the United States for the next 30 days.

If Canada does not follow suit, the best and easiest way to get to and from Europe will be to head to Vancouver, Montreal, or Toronto. Also, it should be noted that Aeromexico serves many European destinations from their base in Mexico City.

Expect Airline stocks to fall tomorrow on the market, as there are literally hundreds of flights eery day between Europe and the United States

In One Word, I can only say this…

  1. I applaud Trump for taking this measure given that a number of countries have been unable to successful contain the virus and the picture doesn’t look promising. People like you are why we have a problem in the first place with discussions of how to circumvent travel restrictions. If Canada doesn’t follow suit you may be able to travel to Europe but hopefully you will be denied entry into the U.S. with a passport stamp from Europe.

    • People like you are how ignorance spreads like wildfire. This does nothing to stop the spread of a virus, since Americans and legal residents ARE allowed back into the country, and the US is the only civilized country who has done virtually nothing to curb the spread of this virus. Try to use that brain and think about everyone who DOESN’T get stamped in or out of Europe. Get a grip!

      • To my point people like you are why this virus spreads because you will not curb your travel and outings for the safety of everyone else but will mislead others into thinking it can’t be stopped. Europe has many clusters that are impossible to contain. Their numbers are much higher than the U.S. so it makes sense to ban travel from continental Europe for 30 days. U.S. citizens being able to come back after being screened still means a lot of non citizens will not be spreading the virus. Less people coming in means less possible vectors and less strain on the capability to screen travelers upon arrival at the airport. These people are going home where they can remain instead of tourists going to hotels and attractions and what not.

I agree, all travel to the U.S. should be completely banned. If all countries banned flights from East Asia 1 month ago we wouldn’t be in this mess. If all countries banned flights from Italy and Iran 2 weeks ago it wouldn’t have spread like it did. But no country did that and people were keen on vacation, cruising or going to a festival. UK has the enviable position of being an island that can screen those coming in on rail and plane rather than those on the mainland who can move from one country to the next unchecked by car.

A lot has been done to address the crisis like making the right choice to ban Chinese flights a month ago. May be you are not familiar with the U.S. but an average sized state is as big as the average sized European country. State and local governments are first responders with the CDC and other federal agencies providing assistance. The problem is not containing those diagnosed but people who are cavalier and don’t stay home when this is a pandemic no one has seen in their lifetime. But according to you we are supposed to be upset because less possible carriers will be coming in with a 30 day travel ban?

      • Hey Ben, so, you bitch that the US hasn’t done anything about Covid-19 (and I agree somewhat) and then in the same sentence you bitch that something is being done! Brilliant, dude. At least he will be spending money on American citizens rather than Europeans who end up sick here. Ever thought of that? Nah, didn’t think so…

  2. What, you don’t believe that keeping the people from Iceland away will help the USA defeat the alien virus?

  3. No he didn’t. This article is factually off base. You end by stating “This is developing story, and we will keep you updated as soon as we know more.” but never posted an update.

Stop fear mongering to drive engagement. What a terrible blog.

    • Also, this is like… weeks old. So much has happened that no updating really was necessary – you have to live under a rock to not know what’s going on in the world.
