Etihad First Class Lounge and Spa, Abu Dhabi
The Etihad First Class Lounge in Abu Dhabi is one of a kind. It’s not huge and overbearing like some lounges, but it is still big enough to accommodate the large number of First Class passengers that utilize Abu Dhabi and Etihad. Since it’s not a business class lounge, the service is much more personalized, attentive, and unique.
After a quick check in at the dedicated business class check in, we headed to the Terminal 3 First Class lounge and Spa. Mind you that today we were flying business, but since we flew IN to Abu Dhabi in First Class, they allowed us to use this lounge while transiting. The jury’s still out as to whether or not this is the norm, but today we managed to get in.
Check in was on the ground level and after processing our tickets, we took the elevator up one level to get to the lounge.
Since our flight was boarding in 20 minutes, we were informed that if we wanted something quick we could, but that it would not be recommended to have a sit down meal, in light of the time the flight was leaving.
We opted for a quick tour instead of something more formal. Before you go into the club there’s the Etihad Shave where you can opt for a quick shave or beard trim…
And a small fitness center if you want to get a workout in. Don’t worry, they have showers as well…
Just past the entrance is the formal dining room with kitchen in the back.
Past the formal dining room is a small room off to the right which is the cigar room. While we don’t partake in smoking cigars, the most interesting feature was the complete lack of any smoke smell whatsoever. The filters they must have for the room are amazing!
As a first class passenger, you’re entitled to one of three free cigars (Monte Cristo, Arturo Fuente, or Cohiba)
Leaving the cigar lounge you’re confronted with a gigantic bar with every liquor imaginable. As a side note, I’ve got to say that I love the geometric designs everywhere with Etihad.
There’s even a sleeping room if you just want to take a quick nap. They’ll bring in pillows and comforters for you if you’d like.
Even though we didn’t take part in any of the food options for breakfast, here’s a sampling of the menu. They also had the lunch menu available to you if you so desired. First class afterall!
I’ll admit that I didn’t plan this out right for us. I was under the impression that our flight was heading out of Terminal 1, which has an inferior lounge, when in reality we were departing out of Terminal 3. If I’d have researched a bit better, I suppose we could have had a little more time here. With that said, as amazing as the flight was, you know this won’t be our last time at the lounge in Abu Dhabi ☺
We did manage to have come quick coffee, take a deep breath, and soak up the surroundings.
There are other more private seating areas off to the side which also double as smoking rooms. Again, I would never enter a smoking room normally, but the filters they have are intense. You can’t smell a THING! I’d consider hanging out inside if I knew I could have the room to myself.
Once we were leaving, I told this to the agent in the lounge and she said “Oh, don’t worry about it! Next time if you’re leaving out of Terminal 1, you can just walk the 7-10 minutes over to Terminal 3 and you’re good to go! You can use this lounge as well.” Rookie mistake, lesson learned! Hopefully you won’t follow in our footsteps.
