American Airlines offers 45% off when Buying Miles
If you’re in a buying mood and planning for the future, American Airlines is offering a 45% discount for the month of July if you buy miles. The pricing really isn’t that bad, especially if you’re looking at premium travel for later this year and in 2021.
The Deal
The more mile you buy, the bigger discount that you’ll get.
- 6,000-10,000 miles = 10% off
- 11,000-25,000 miles = 20% off
- 26,000-50,000 miles = 25% off
- 51,000-74,000 miles = 35% off
- 75,000-149,000 miles = 40% off
- 150,000 miles = 45% off
The obvious best deal here is to buy 150,000 American Airlines miles in total to score the biggest discount. Buying 150,000 miles will cost you $2,636.97
So what does 150,000 miles get you?
The cost doesn’t mean anything until you have a use for them, right? So what are some of the ways that we would use our 150,000 American Airlines Advantage miles?
First Class to Abu Dhabi
The Etihad partnership is one of the more lucrative uses of your American Airlines miles. One-way from the US to the Middle East in business class is 70,000 miles (round trip for 140,000 miles). If you want something even more luxurious, 110,000 miles will get you a one-way ticket in the Etihad First Class apartment.
We usually fly from Europe to the Middle East, for a cost of 62,500 miles each way (130,000 round trip). Wirth the 20,000 miles left over you could snag yourself enough for a domestic flight with American.
Best Business Class
Qatar has been quoted as having the world’s best business class, the Q Suites. As long as we can get out of this coronavirus mess, the Qsuites should be on all US routes later this year.
70,000 American Airlines Advantage miles will get you a one-way ticket to Doha (or the Middle East), so for 140,000 miles round trip you’ve got yourself a ticket.
You can fly to Doha from Qatar’s US destinations
- Atlanta
- Boston
- Chicago
- Dallas
- Houston
- Los Angeles
- Miami
- New York
- Philadelphia
- Washington
Japan Airlines Business/First
Looking to head to Japan in style? Both Business and First class on Japan Airlines (JAL) are great deals. 60,000 miles one-way in business class or 80,000 in first class makes not only a comfortable way to get there but a superb use of American Airlines miles.
Head over to American’s page to buy miles. You’ve got until the end of the month, but don’t wait too long. Miles tickets are never guaranteed availability!
