American Airlines announces Double Miles on all Summer Flights

American Airlines is pulling out all the stops to try and get summer travelers back into their airplanes. With most people canceling their trips in lieu of road trips or local tourism, the airlines are hurting. We’ve seen Alaska Airlines announce a double miles promotion and now American is following suit.

With their Summer of Deals promotion, all flights between now and September 30th will accrue double AAdvantage Miles.

Summer of Deals

In addition to offering lower-than-normal fares, American launched their Summer of Deals promo. It includes double miles up to a total of 10,000 for all flights this summer.

To make it easier to travel this summer, American has launched its Summer of Deals promotion, which includes double AAdvantage® miles for customers who sign up in advance and book flights during June for travel before Sept. 30, 2020, for a total of 10,000 bonus miles. Visit aa.com/summerofdeals for complete details.

The key to remember about the promotion is that you have to sign up in advance. If you try and buy a ticket, show up, and fly and you haven’t registered, you’re out of luck.

The bonus miles don’t count towards elite status, but nonetheless double miles are double miles.

Don’t forget also that if you book a flight before June 30th, you won’t be charged a change fee to make modifications.

  1. I don’t think Alaska has announced a double miles promotion. 1.5x EQM but have you seen double miles from Alaska?
