The Deals

Our friends over at Notiflyer have tipped us off to a great business class deal between Europe and South East Asia on Saudia. Starting at just $800, you can fly round trip in business class between between Athens and several Asian cities. That’s an absolute steal.

The Dates

Availability on these flights is wide open from now until the end of the calendar. That means you can book out just about anytime you please between now and November. That even includes peak season and holidays!

Some Things to Keep in Mind

Saudia is a dry airline, so if you’re looking forward to free-flowing champagne, you’re going to be disappointed. However, cutting back on alcohol will help with the jet lag, so look at the bright side. The long-haul leg of these flights come in at 10 hours, so the having a bed is a huge plus.

Also, you’ll want to look for the routes with Saudia’s 787s. All of 787s feature lie-flat business class seats in a 1-2-1 reverse herringbone layout. Meanwhile, you’ll need to check the seat map if you’re flying on a 777. While some of their 777s feature their reverse herringbone business class, most still feature less comfortable angle-flat seats in a 2-2-2 layout.

One More Option

You can snag business class with them for as low as $1,180. We’ve seen business class sales on similar routes in the past from Qatar for about $1,500, so this represents a pretty significant discount.

Where to Credit These Flights

Saudia is a member of the Skyteam alliance. Out of that group, your best bets will be Delta Skymiles and Air France/KLM’s Flying Blue program. Flying from Athens to Manila, you’d earn 13,578 redeemable miles, 13,578 qualifying miles, and 2,715 qualifying dollars with Delta. Unless you’re worried about elite status, I wouldn’t recommend crediting the Saudia flights there.

Instead, I’d go with Air France/KLM’s Flying Blue. With Flying Blue, you’d earn 20,367 miles and 102 XP. Plus, I’d generally consider Flying Blue to be a more valuable program than Delta Skymiles.

Will you be surprising someone this Christmas with some sweet business class tickets?

    • I think anyone can fly for a few hours without a drink, while they’re saving money. Perhaps you can buy more Grey Goose with the money you saved 🙂
