Review: Aloft Seattle SeaTac Airport

For anyone who’s ever stayed near SeaTac before catching an early morning flight or during a really long layover, it comes as no surprise that the options near the aiport aren’t particularly sexy. Well, now there’s a new option in town: the Aloft Seattle SeaTac Airport.

This past weekend, while we were attending FTU Signature Seattle, we decided to stay at the hotel where the event was being hosted, so that we could spend as much time with attendees as possible. But, when we heard from our SPG Platinum Ambassador that the new Aloft Seattle SeaTac Airport was opening the same weekend, we decided to pay them a visit.

Location, Location, Location

They’re located one mile from the airport, and they offer a 24/7 shuttle to get back and forth. If your intention is getting into the city, they’re by the Link Light Rail which will take you pretty much anywhere worth seeing in Seattle.

The Hotel

Being an Aloft, one can expect an elevated millennial look and feel, with funky lighting and atmosphere music, and you will be greeted by young, cool people, as you would expect from the brand. From their website:

Energy flows and personalities mingle in a setting that combines urban-influenced design, accessible technology, and a social scene that’s always abuzz.

The lobby is open floor plan and starts with a circular check in counter, with the Re:fuel pantry off to the left side. You can expect light snacks and drinks all day and night. Off to the very far right of the lobby, you can find the bar, but not before walking past tons of seating areas, a large dining table, a pool table, a fireplace and more.

There’s a really nice, large gym room, complete with all of those machines you probably don’t know how to use and wouldn’t be using even if you did, but maybe that’s just me.

The Room

The rooms are very nice, especially considering this is an airport hotel. If you’ve been to any of the airport hotels near SeaTac, you are already used to the very limited and generally disappointing offering. They are either expensive, very old and poorly maintained on the one hand, or cheap, scary motels on the other.

The rooms at the Aloft Seattle SeaTac Airport are new, and they certainly feel like it too. They even smell new, considering they just opened their doors Feb 23. And man, do they look good. I have always liked their minimalist cool feel every time we’ve stayed at Alofts around the world, like this one in Abu Dhabi, the largest aloft in the world.

You’ll find a comfy bed (with cool pillows), a small desk to take care of all of your (blogging) needs, a closet, safe, a coffee station and a very nice bathroom with a roomy shower with very nice water pressure.

I fell in love with the Seattle art atop the bed, but I don’t think they would have appreciated my ripping it off the wall.

How to book

This is a Category 3 SPG hotel, which means you will need 7,000 Starpoints a night, or possibly a better option is to fork over the $123/night they’re running with right now. If you ask me, a very good choice to have available should you ever need to stay near SEA.

Have you stayed in the Aloft Seattle SeaTac Airport since it opened last week, or are you planning to?

  1. Your post is very well done and a great promo for the hotel. I am currently here with some of my staff the hotel is freshly opened and it shows. Hot water is an issue, it’s just not hot, HVAC has some kinks needed to be worked out as the hot water. There is a large fitness center however other than treadmills and some weights not what one would call a fully equipped. The fit and finish also needs a lot of work. Bar/food atypical WXYZ food selection and other snacking options are clearly a work in process.

The hotel is next to the airport and more importantly within 15 feet of the elevated light rail system and right next door to the Hampton. Noise level here is louder than one would like from a brand new hotel. Seriously.

Positive is the price point is attractive however I am not sure we as a company will use this as a go to hotel.

Just saying but I am a business traveler ,LFT PLT with SPG so maybe a little more critical at times

    • We were assured that the noise from the light rail would not have been that bad, but I guess you’re seeing differently? That kinda sucks 🙁

  3. We were just there two days ago. While I agree that it’s got a cool, young vibe, it felt as though it was being run by kids who hadn’t been trained in customer service. The room itself was nice as well as the location.

However (a BIG however) my wife woke with bite marks and itching all over her ankles and partway up her calves!!! I pulled the sheets off but found nothing. Very strange.
