Star Alliance Fare Sale: San Francisco to Spain, $300
The new Spanish airline Level took the transcontinental world by storm last week by announcing under $300 fare sale from Oakland to Barcelona. Today, Star Alliance matched that fare sale with almost the same prices. If you wanted to fly to Europe, but didn’t want to get slapped with a ton of extra fees, here you go!
We wrote three pieces last week on the new low cost carrier Level Airlines. We also mentioned how the fees had the potential to be really high. Buyer beware, indeed! The airline had huge success selling over 52,000 tickets on their first day. Those kind of numbers seriously got the attention of the Star Alliance folks, and they wanted a piece of the action.
United is selling the fare, but the planes are a mix of Star Alliance carriers including Air Canada, Lufthansa, and Swiss. Check out this routing, which isn’t too bad! San Francisco to Montreal, and then on to Barcelona. Notice the planes are Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge.
There are also other options which fly from San Francisco to Zurich on Swiss Airlines and then backtrack to Barcelona.
How to Book this fare sale?
The fare seems to price a little higher on the United website at around $400, but if you go to the wonderful www.TravelMerry.com, you can get the ticket to price out as above for around $300.
This fare is good for summer and early fall travel in August, September, and October. If you’re looking to head to Europe on the cheap, without all the headaches of a new low cost carrier, here’s your chance!
