Latest AARP Discount Update with British
A few weeks back, we broke the news here that British Airways was increasing their discounts on economy and premium economy flights with the AARP discount.
Well, I guess all good things must come to an end…
Now, according to both the AARP page and the BA page, the discounts have reverted back to normal.
But wait, did you see that last part?
In the last post, all travel must have been booked by July 31st, effectively giving you 3 more days from now to book your travel. Well, they’ve extended their discounts all the way now until October 21st, however you still must complete your travel by March 31st, 2017.
In the past few years, British Airways has launched late summer/early fall business/first class sales, and they’re usually good through end of schedule. Just last year in October we were able to snag a ticket to Athens in business class for around $500. The deals are there, and I’m glad to see that AARP has at least extended the booking window until October 21st.
I, for one, am hoping that they also extend the travel date past March 31st. We’ve booked ourselves trips for January, February, March, AND April already, but our May is wide open 🙂 If a British sale comes down, it might be hard to turn down…

Those AARP discounts are only for trans-Atlantic travel, aren’t they? It would be great if you could use them for intra-European flights.
Not to forget that AARP membership costs only $20/year, and is open to anyone of any age.

As long as you start your travel in the USA you can use the discount. So it won’t work for any city that doesn’t start in the USA. And just as a note, it’s even cheaper than$20. We bought a 5 year membership for around $60 :). For two people!

Thanks for keeping us posted. This would be a great way to go abroad.
