Hotel Review: Costa Mesa Marriott
As we were attending the FTU over the weekend, we needed a place to stay that was close to the event. The event had a discount code with the Westin, but as we looked around, we saw that there were lots of options just a few blocks away. Hilton’s, Marriott’s, even Holiday Inn’s. Marriott was running a Megabonus promotion that seemed like a pretty good deal, so we opted for that.
We were platinum members with Marriott long before the new SPG/Marriott merger, but thanks to the new SPG/Marriott promo, both our status were recognized. She actually asked me if I was a platinum because of the new merger. I imagine there is something in the system that shows we linked our accounts?
In any event, there was another special promotion on top of the megabonus. With every two nights, you got a $50 amex gift card. Seemed like a no-brainer to us!
The rooms at the Costa Mesa Marriott are “suites†with separate living and sleeping areas. When you walk into the room you first see the living area. A desk, chair, and sofa bed
Along with a small wet-bar/mini-bar:
On your right as you enter is a pretty standard Marriott bathroom setup
Through the double doors the bedroom awaits. Even though we have a W Bed at home, a close second to me is the Marriott bed. Always comfortable, and the pillows are like heaven, not like those shitty twinkie-sponge-cake consistency that Holiday Inn gives you.
While they don’t have a concierge club lounge, they did offer free breakfast. We decided to head over to the FTU to learn as much as possible, and they offered breakfast there as well.
All in all, the Costa Mesa Marriott offered a great choice for us as we were walking distance to the event and in a great hotel. If you’re on business in the area, don’t hesitate in choosing this hotel.
