How to get Free Breakfast at the St Regis Maldives

Mention the Maldives and images of pristine turquoise blue waters come to mind. Overwater bungalows with direct jump-in access to the water and romantic sunsets are commonplace in this island paradise.

While it’s on almost everyone’s wish list, getting there can be a challenge. Flights are often ridiculously expensive and once you DO get to the islands, a barrage of expensive hotels with overpriced meals await. Never mind the flight distance involved, those expensive factors are enough to turn some people off and have them looking for cheaper destinations.

Getting to paradise and back doesn’t have to cost a fortune. We booked a ridiculous, normally unattainable luxury vacation valued at almost $46,000 for a grand total of $1,818… for two people!

Considering that’s usually the price of a regular coach class ticket to the Maldives, that’s one heck of a steal.

In the series of posts to follow, we’re going to walk you through all the experiences that we enjoyed on this trip. While most people would consider this once-in-a-lifetime, with just a little legwork and dedication you can have a luxury getaway to make Instagram followers drool with envy.

You would assume that when a hotel charges over $2,000 a night the least that they could do is include breakfast for free. With that said, I would imagine that when you charge $2,000 a night for a hotel, your guests can also afford to pay for breakfast on their own.

Elite Status!

Luckily as Titanium members with Marriott, Breakfast is a free option at check in. You can either choose points of breakfast, and there’s no reason NOT to choose this breakfast. We’ve written about the crappy breakfasts at American hotels before and the difference between those and international chains.

The St Regis is all about luxury, and this hotel breakfast is no different.

Breakfast is served from 0700-1030 and there’s no prices on the menu. You can get anything you’d like, in any quantity, and it’s all … for … free.

Buffet

If you are boring and don’t want to try something inventive, there’s a scrumptious buffet with hundreds of options to choose from.

Fresh baked pastries and donuts are made every day from scratch. There are literally dozens of different options so you can’t possibly get bored

Some of the options are savory as well, not just sweet ones!

Jelly? Nutella? Fresh butter? What about fresh honeycomb? Don’t mind if I do!

Spicy mackaeral and salads are cold options. You can also have a half dozen imported cheeses and a selection of cold cuts. The options just keep going on and on!

If you’re the kind of person who likes lunch for breakfast, you can get your fill too. Chicken stir-fry, Maldivian Fish Curry,, Tuna and Fish Curry and Sambar V are four spicy options to kick off your morning.

What about ice cream? Yes, seriously, ice cream. You can get ice cream and sorbet for breakfast!

Full Menu

If you want some items that you probably won’t have anywhere else, then get ready for this! The menu is full of unique items that you probably wouldn’t find at most restaurants on the mainland.

How about a Lobster and Alaskan Crab Omelette with Caviar? Chicken and Waffles? Naahhhh… What about Waffle and Duck Leg Confit?

You can get eggs benedict, a made to order omelette, or even a Maldivian Fish Omelette (with fish they catch off their own shores with coconut and chili).

The coffee and tea list was expansive, including all manner of espresso drinks and about 10 different tea varities. You won’t get bored trying a new flavor daily.

We opted for three selections for Breakfast, the Crab and Caviar Omelette,

And an order of Sashimi to round out the day.

The next day we went with a mango crepe,

And poached white asparagus with poached eggs.

Just remember, you’re on an island in the middle of the Indian Ocean no bigger than most neighborhoods in the USA. Four hour flight to the closest major city and you’re finding all these luxury options. Pretty amazing if you sit back and think about it.

Each morning we tried a new juice from the freshly squeezed juice station. If you didn’t see something there, the staff was happy to take requests. The last day we asked for a dragonfruit juice and they brought it by in minutes.

Each day the breakfast could cost upwards of $60 each, but since we got it for free, that translates to at least a $480 savings.

Can’t beat that!

Stay tuned for the rest of the food options coming up soon.
