Alaska Airlines’ Newest Partner, El Al Israel Airlines

In a shocking announcement, Alaska Airlines just announced their newest partner to the Mileage Plan family… El Al Israel Airlines!

Immerse yourself in Israel’s vibrant culture.

With EL AL Israel Airlines as our newest Global Partner, experiencing Israel’s sacred landmarks, sun-drenched beaches, and superb nightlife just got simpler.

Beginning July 1, 2019, Mileage Planâ„¢ members can earn miles flying to Israel and beyond.

According to Gary from View From the Wing, El Al has a very ambitious USA expansion plan coming up for the next year and change:

Boston, Chicago O’Hare (March 2020), Las Vegas (June 2019), Los Angeles, Miami, Newark, New York JFK, Orlando (July 2019) and San Francisco (May 2019)

Earning and Spending Miles

The mileage earning will be fairly generous in Business Class, with all fares earniig at a minimum 225% before elite bonuses.

Don’t hold your breath on actually being able to spend the miles. Finnair’s roll out was supposed to be “coming soon” but some 9,817,235 days later they finally made the announcement. I wouldn’t expect this to be a quick turnaround.

Nonetheless, I’m kinda excited about another partner. Their 787 product looks great, and getting to the middle east and beyond with another partner other than Emirates will be a nice addition to the family.

Are you looking forward to flying El Al?
