Money Maker! $20 rebate on Visa Gift Cards at Staples
From August 6-12 in all Staples stores, if you purchase $300 in Visa Gift Cards you can get a $20 Visa gift card back by mail. The math is pretty simple, and this could turn into a good money making opportunity for you. If you’re new to Manufactured Spending, read our intro post here, regardless, this is another awesome opportunity to rack up some points.
Usually I buy 2, $200 gift cards to get the most points possible.
- Cost: $413.90 (6.95 per card)
- Rebate: $20 Visa Card
- Total Cost: $393.90
- Profit per 2 cards: $6.10
Which Card to Use?
No matter which credit card you use to purchase these, you’ll come out ahead. We’ve still got a card that gives us 5x the points at office supply stores, so that will earn us 2,070 points. Even if you use your debit card (shame on you!!) you’ll still make a profit on the cards.
One per “Household”
Remember, these rebates are only one per person, per address. Now, I’m here to tell you that you probably have more than one address (ya know, work address and home address) and there are probably family members that you could ship these things to in other states for you (think mom and dad, those people who don’t really understand why you do all the crazy things you do for points and miles but are happy to support you nonetheless). Just remember that emails, phone numbers, names, and addresses must all be different.
My mom sure loves shopping at Staples! At least you would think so by the number of rebates that she gets at her house.
How to get the rebate?
The rebate form will print automatically at checkout. If you’re using your staples rewards account, don’t. Remember that this is one per address and you’re not going to earn any rewards on Visa gift card purchases anyway, so might as well just leave the number off of the purchase.
These cards run out fast, so don’t delay!
