Free Hertz President’s Circle Status with SPG Platinum

Ask anyone in the points and miles world and you’ll probably find a consensus that SPG points (Starwood hotels) are some of the most valuable in the game. They can be redeemed at a relatively low amount for free hotel nights and can also be transferred 1:1 to most airlines. Their flexibility is what makes them so attractive.

They’ve always been really hard to come by as points aren’t earned easily from hotel stays and external partnerships are few and far between.

Rental Cars

For a long time you could earn airline miles just by attaching your frequent filer number to a rental car reservation, but hotel points were still a missed opportunity. Now SPG is expanding their partnership with Hertz rent a car to offer points with each reservation.

The date is still listed as “early 2018” for points earning, but in the meantime you can put your Marriott number on reservations to earn points (and then convert them to SPG)

Here’s the word from the SPG social media team:

We wanted to provide advance notice that the Avis Budget Group & SPG partnership will be introducing a partnership with Hertz in early 2018.

Beginning in early 2018 all members can earn Starpoints on Hertz rentals. Additionally, SPG Platinum members will enjoy the below status:

· SPG Platinum members will be eligible for Hertz Gold Plus Rewards® Five Star ® status, which includes car upgrades and more.

· SPG Platinum members with ambassador service will be eligible to receive Hertz Gold Plus Rewards® President’s Circle® status and benefits.

This is a pretty sweet deal, considering President’s Circle status comes with some pretty swanky upgrades. Every time I’ve wanted the fancy car at a Hertz location, it’s only been available for President’s Circle members.

If you want to link your accounts, just write your ambassador or call the Platinum line. They should be able to do it for you.
