Alaska Airlines Seattle to Havana Inaugural Trip Report

As you’ve probably read, we just got back from the Alaska Airlines inaugural trip to Havana Cuba, and it was AMAZING! Here’s a first hand look at the inaugural flight. The party was still going on as we boarded, but since we were flying first and we wanted to get a lot of undisturbed pictures from the flight, we were the first to board. TV cameras and reporters were waiting with pictures and microphones as we boarded. It was quite the...

Alaska Airlines’ Havana Inaugural Flight Party

As we arrived the night before, we headed to the check-in area to scope out what preparations would be in store for the upcoming flight. We noticed that there would be a special check-in area just for the Cuba flights, so with that in mind we knew right where to go. There was a special VIP and Media check in desk… for some reason we weren’t on the list… I guess we just need to be a little more famous first. Once we checked...

Alaska Airlines’ Cuba Check-in Mess

Travel to Cuba is still not allowed for tourist purposes and you must fall within one of 12 categories for travel. Among the options are Medical, Professional, Research, Religious, and Journalism. Because Alaska’s website makes sure to mention that you need to get a Visa before you travel, we made sure to order ours with plenty of time (over 3 weeks). We ordered it through an overseas travel company and they arrived! In reality, the...

British Airways is running a Vacation Sale!

British Airways is currently running a pretty awesome sale for vacations to London and all points beyond from now until January 24th. British has been pretty good about running sales lately from the USA as we’ve seen ones in the past for business and coach flights. This one is pretty good too! Flights from the East Coast start at $379 and vacation packages including 5 nights hotel begin at $689. Check out Barcelona: Or...

Review, Four Points LAX Airport

Two days before we left for Havana, I realized that I hadn’t yet booked our accommodations for our overnight in LAX. Our flight landed at 9:30 pm into LAX and left at 8:55 am the next morning. Luckily, we found a great deal at $89 a night at the Four Points LAX airport. The shuttle service is continuous and non-stop 24 hours to and from the airport, so just head out of the baggage claim area and look for the red “Hotel Shuttles” sign....

Greetings from Havana, Cuba!

Greetings from AMAZING Havana, Cuba! Over the past few days, there has been a lot of talk on some of the blogs all over the web (not just on boarding area) about how Cuba sucks. I mean, I won’t sugar coat it, people have been saying some pretty harsh things. But, as we’re sitting in our room with free wifi (and FAST wifi), sipping on a 50 cent mojito and eating homemade chocolate for $1, I can’t help but...

SkyJet, The fastest route from Boracay to Manila

The Caticlan airport (MPU) offers service via three airlines with any regularity; Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines, and the lovely little guy, SkyJet. Skyjet offers a fleet of 2, yup, you got it, 2 aircraft, and they run schedule service back and forth between Manila and MPU airport. Because they are the only “jet” service (the other airlines use prop planes) they offer the fastest service, at only around 35 minutes flight time....

Hilton Hotels offering 30% off Winter Sale

There’s a great deal right now from Hilton Hotels, as they’re running their Winter Sale. They ran the same sale last year, and it’s a pretty good one. Hilton’s Winter Sale is almost the same winter sale that they ran last year, and it calls for a 25% off rate with an additional 5% off for Honors members. The terms are pretty simple: Offer is subject to availability at participating hotels within the Hilton...

St Regis Puerto Rico available for 70% off!

If there’s one thing that we like doing when we travel abroad, it’s staying in style. We lead a pretty spartan lifestyle at home while choosing to spend our time and money on ourselves when we travel. The problem is that those luxury hotels are really expensive (and for good reason!). St Regis hotels have never ceased to amaze me, as I don’t think that we’ve every had a bad experience at one. There is a special...
